The Dabcyl quencher is a non-fluorescent dark quencher especially recommended for molecular beacons. It efficiently quenches various fluorescent dyes in the blue to green emission spectra, but it is not recommended for fluorophores emitting above 480 nm.

Fluorescent quencher 520-600
TAMRA (Tetramethylrhodamin) is a fluorescent dye which can be used as a 3’ or internal (TAMRA-dT) quencher for dual labeled probes or molecular beacons. Its quenching range is suited for 5’ reporter dyes like FAM, HEX, TET, JOE, Yakima Yellow, Cy3 or similar dyes in this wavelength range.
TAMRA is not recommended for multiplex applications due to its fluorescent behaviour. TAMRA can increase background noise due to an overlap between the quencher and reporter fluorescence spectra.
